The Jewish United Fund Names Marc Karlinsky to Its “36 Under 36” List

(Chicago, IL) — Marc Karlinsky, Editor of the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin (CDLB), has been recognized on the sixth annual “Double Chai in the Chi: 36 Under 36” list of young Jewish movers and shakers in Chicago. Presented by The Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago (JUF) and Oy!Chicago, the list shines a spotlight on the faces of Chicago’s Jewish future and recognizes the amazing contributions of this generation.

Karlinsky, 27, has been with Law Bulletin Media for four years. As CDLB editor, he oversees the periodical’s day-to-day operations, providing the latest news, essential court information, changes in case law, pending legislation and expert analysis in specific practice areas. In his spare time, he volunteers through JUF programs like Mensches in Motion, LEADS leadership and Maot Chitim.

“I enjoy connecting people in the social and professional worlds, and I try and pay it forward professionally by being an accessible mentor and contact for aspiring writers in the often-unforgiving world of modern print journalism,” Karlinsky said.

Before entering journalism, Karlinsky was a federal policy intern for the JUF in its Washington, D.C., government affairs office, where he helped the nonprofit prepare for its annual advocacy mission by researching legislation of importance to the JUF and its affiliate service agencies and preparing points and materials for visiting participants to use when meeting with members of Illinois’ congressional delegation.

The young professionals featured on the “Double Chai in the Chi: 36 Under 36” list (the letters of the Hebrew word “Chai,” which means “life,” also represent the number 18) are noted for making a difference through their work, giving back in their free time, and earning distinction in the Jewish community and beyond.

“This year’s list does not disappoint,” said Stefanie Pervos Bregman, co-founding editor of Oy!Chicago. “I can guarantee you that the future of our Jewish community is in good hands with these young leaders at the helm.”

The 36 winners will be honored at Old Crow Smokehouse in River North on Wednesday, August 10, 2017. The event is open to the public and a portion of all proceeds will be donated to JUF’s 2017 Annual Campaign to provide services for those in need.
