Case Evaluation Research: Using Verdicts and Settlements to Find the Value of Your Case 

The Case Evaluation Workshop will provide lawyers a road map to establishing the value of the cases they are handling. Through analyzing injuries and harms of a case and finding comparable case attendees will learn how to identify value ranges for their case. Attendees will learn how to use this information to better position their client’s case during settlement negotiations, pre-trial conferences and at trial. Also covered in the Workshop will be how to find and challenge expert witnesses to better position your case for a jury, and ultimately improve the likelihood of success for your client.

Illinois Legal Research – Finding Needles in the Legal Information Haystack
Make your legal research more efficient and informative by utilizing next generation tools to better analyze your cases and improve your overall practice. Find “needles” in the haystack of legal information. Knowing your judge, your opposing counsel, local court rules, the value of your case, and local legal news all play a part in your success handling your clients’ matters. Without answers to these questions attorneys may not be able to provide their clients the best representation and risk missing vital information that could have a critical impact on the outcome of their cases. Lawyerport is a research service used by attorneys, judges and other legal professionals to answer many of these important questions. This program will provide researchers guidance on how to find answers to challenging and complex questions such as what is the value of a case, and ultimately gain knowledge that will allow for improved client representation. Researching Expert Witnesses Using the Jury Verdict Reporter in Lawyerport
The Researching Expert Witnesses Workshop will provide lawyers the tools to find expert witnesses and investigate their reported case history. Through analyzing facts such as injuries, harms, and categories of a case and finding comparable cases, attendees will learn how to ascertain which fields of expertise and specific experts to utilize in their case. Attendees will learn how to review a known expert’s reported case history to review their rate of success and determine any potential biases. Also covered in the Workshop will be how to find and challenge expert witnesses to better position your case for a jury, and ultimately improve the likelihood of success for your client.
